How to Renew Your Passport Online in Malaysia

After staying home for so long, travel kakis in Malaysia can finally start travelling again. However, throughout the two years, I’m sure many of us have seen our passports expire and are now rushing to get the renewed. In case you didn’t know, at the moment, you can ONLY renew your passport online. Here’s how: 

As simple as a few clicks!

The first thing you need to do is fill in this MyOnline Passport form. Read through the information and then click “Agree” at the bottom of the first page. 

On the next page, fill up the relevant personal details and select the branch at which you wish to collect your passport. After all, a Poslaju delivery doesn’t seem appropriate for such an important document! Take note that the nearest branch to you may be in a different state. 

Click on “Search” (or “Carian” if you’re using the Bahasa version). On the next page, you’ll have to upload an appropriate photo of yourself. No selfies with poses, please! Next, make your payment and print out the receipt/passport renewal application. 

You should receive an approval for passport collection within three working days. Once you have it, just bring your old passport, NRIC, and payment receipt to your selected immigration office to pick up your new passport! The current rate for renewal (five years) is RM200 for those aged 13 to 59, and RM100 for those who are 60 years old and above.

And there you have it! How to renew your passport online in Malaysia. What’s the first destination you’ll fly to? Personally, I wanna go to Taiwan, but it appears that mandatory quarantine will still be applied to us. 

On that note, just a reminder that, just because Malaysians can travel out of the country, it doesn’t mean every country is ready to accept visitors! Make sure to do your research before booking those tickets!
